FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Dr. Mark Green announced Doug Grindstaff, a renowned business executive and Republican leader, as his Campaign Treasurer today. A former chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party, Grindstaff is widely recognized for his leadership in building the Republican Party in Tennessee.

“Having known Mark Green for many years, I am proud to join his campaign as Treasurer. Mark has dedicated his life to serving his fellow Americans—as an Army veteran, physician, and business leader. Mark is well-known across the 7th District, and I look forward to getting him elected,” remarked Grindstaff.

Since announcing his run for Congress, Green has coalesced support from Republicans all across the 7th district. Green’s solid conservative leadership and the strength of his candidacy was recognized with an early endorsement from the influential Club for Growth.

“I’m thrilled to have Doug Grindstaff join our campaign as the treasurer. Doug is a good friend of mine, and has consistently played a critical role in leading the Republicans in Tennessee to a majority in Tennessee,” noted Green.

Doug Grindstaff is a native of Knoxville and has lived in Nashville for the past 25 years. He is an angel investor in venture capital and currently is the Chairman/CEO of five companies in TN,AL,FL,and TX.  Doug was Chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party from 2005 to 2009 and was the founder of a PAC that funded much of the Republican majority takeover of the TN House in 2008 and 2010. He and his wife, Rose, are active in numerous charities and political activities. Prior to moving into venture capital, Doug was President of Procter and Gamble, Canada, the largest advertiser in Canada. He was President of Buckeye Paper Co. with mills in TN, GA, FL, and Alberta Canada. Doug moved to Nashville as CEO of Genesco Inc.

A resident of the 7th congressional district since 2002 when the Army moved Mark to Clarksville with his family, Green recently sold his Clarksville-based healthcare company founded in 2007 that has grown to $200 million in annual revenues. In the State Senate, he has served as lead sponsor of the Hall Income Tax elimination bill, sponsored the Teachers’ Bill of Rights and numerous veteran and small business support bills, and worked against the expansion of Obamacare by passing a health savings account pilot program. A graduate of West Point, Green has served our nation in Iraq and Afghanistan and is the recipient of a Bronze Star and Air Medal with V device for valor under enemy fire.
